These short courses include:
· anatomy of vision
· psychology of vision
· vision habits and how to change them
· interaction between overall body use (breathing, posture, tension) and vision
· how beliefs about vision affect vision
· how beliefs about aging affect vision
· the huge potential of vision, which is largely dormant
This quote from a recent course participant:
I have learned about my vision in a completely new way and now have strategies which I can use to reduce my dependence on both reading and sun glasses AND I now understand why this may be important to my long term health. The experiences on the course have changed my attitude to vision and, following on from that, have made me rethink my attitude to ageing in general. I can and do expect that my "sight " may improve if I continue to nurture it in this way. Even if it doesn't , I am much more empowered to keep some control of my visual functioning.
It was great to see other people on the course become similarly empowered to be much more proactive about such an important physical and mental function, which we tend to take for granted and most of us completely neglect (as opposed to passively going to the optician ) .
The courses are two hours per week for six weeks and are held throughout the year in Mangonui, with additional courses being planned for Kerikeri and Whangarei.
